Emily and Danny were married on one of the first truly warm spring days of the season. It felt like the perfect kickoff to summer and a great fit for their relaxed, joy-filled wedding day.
Their ceremony at St. Paul in Norwalk was emotional and personal, with plenty of happy tears throughout. One of the most memorable moments came during the speeches later in the day, when Emily’s dad shared a heartfelt reflection that had the room fully locked in. It was genuine, thoughtful, and clearly meant a lot to both families.
The reception took place at Millsite Lodge, a Sandusky Ohio wedding venue and one we were excited to experience for the first time. The property has such a welcoming atmosphere, with open fields, a creek running through the grounds, and former horse stables converted into overnight rooms for guests. It created a setting where people could spread out, explore, and truly enjoy the space instead of feeling confined to one room all night.
There was an easy sense of humor throughout the day, especially surrounding the fact that Emily’s maiden name is Baker and Danny is Baker of all sorts of goodies. The jokes made their way into conversations and speeches and kept things light and fun, which suited them perfectly.
Later in the evening, we snuck away with Emily and Danny for a quick sunset session, giving them a few quiet minutes together to breathe, laugh, and take in the day before heading back to the celebration. Those short breaks are often when couples get to reconnect, and this one felt especially relaxed and natural.
Dessert was a highlight as well. Along with a beautiful cake by Wendy Kromer Confections, guests enjoyed cookies baked by the groom himself. It was a personal touch that felt very true to who Danny is and added something special to the evening.
As the night went on, the dance floor stayed full, conversations flowed easily, and the overall energy never dipped. Emily and Danny’s wedding day was a great example of how the right venue, meaningful moments, and a couple who genuinely enjoy each other can create a celebration that feels effortless and memorable.
